Originally from Toronto, Canada, Gino came to Kansas City in 1981 after playing his rookie year with the Chicago Horizons. Gino quickly became the face of the franchise as a strong defender for the Kansas City Comets earning him the nickname “The Bull.” He spent 10 seasons with the Comets and is the teams all time leader in games played with over 400 career games played for the Kansas City Comets. He was named team captain three times and named Defensive Player of the Year twice as well. Gino also ranks 9th all time in the MISL with over 500 career blocks. During his final season in 1991-1992, he played for the Kansas City Attack of the NPSL and was named Soccer Man of the Decade. He later went on to be the assistant coach for the Attack in September 1997. He now resides in Lenexa, KS with his 3 daughters Gina, Alix and Shelby. Since retirement he has been mentoring and coaching youth soccer players in the KC Metro for the last 20 years and is currently the Executive Director of the competitive youth soccer club the KC Comets.   Read More…
